The 1st Round Match would have Gannosuke and Ishijima defeat the comedy team of Tsuneo Yoshie and Ultraman Robin when Ishijima would make Yoshie to submit to the WAR Special. Mr. Gannosuke would team up with Buffalo and Kuga on March 17, 2015 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring for Yukihide "Battle Ranger" Ueno's 25th Anniversary show against Atsushi Onita, Flying Kid Ichihara, and Yukihide Ueno in a Street Fight Death Match. Onita and Gannosuke would start brawling with one another while Ueno and Buffalo would brawl in to the crowd right away. Ueno would end up getting back in the ring all bloody from the brawl while Gannosuke would set up to deliver Ueno with a Praying Powerbomb when Onita would come in and spray red mist in Gannosuke's face. Onita would clear Gannosuke of the ring leaving Ueno against Buffalo with Ueno getting the win with a Tornado Shot for the win. Mr. Gannosuke would announced afterwards that he would end up suffering a cracked rib bone during the match and will be out for a couple of weeks as a result forcing him to pull out of making his FREEDOMS debut on March 23, 2015 at Korakuen Hall.
Mr. Gannosuke would team up with Guts Ishijima on March 28, 2015 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in the Finals of the GWC Tag Team Tournament where they would go up against Kenichiro Arai and Shota. It would just be 11 days after Gannosuke has fractured his ribs and he would have to play it carefully as a result. Gannosuke would attack Arai before the bell would even ring as Ishijima would go after Shota. Ishijima would come over to Gannosuke as they would both toss Arai into the ropes and double shoulder tackle him and then follow that up by doing the same to Shota. Gannosuke would come off the rope and look to clothesline Arai while Ishijima would back drop him although Gannosuke would mostly just hit air instead of Arai as Ishijima would deliver the suplex. They would then do the spot with Shota with this time Gannosuke connecting the lariat before the back drop. Gannosuke and Ishijima would then deliver double Praying Powerbombs to their opponents. Gannosuke would grab Shota but Shota would counter and send him into the turnbuckle which would cause Gannosuke to scream in pain and hold his ribs. Gannosuke would come back with a clothesline on Shota and tag out. Shota would end up being tossed a chair to Arai as Shota would smash Gannosuke in the ribs with the chair causing another loud scream. Ishijima would end up getting smashed over the head by a chair from Arai with Shota rolling him up to get the victory and become the GWC Tag Team Champions.
Mr. Gannosuke would promote his Kishindo Returns 18 show on April 7, 2015 at the Tokyo Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. The main event would see him face off against his student Yuko Miyamoto for the first time since August 16, 2008 when Gannosuke faced him prior to retirement. Miyamoto after Gannosuke's retirement had began using Gannosuke's Fire Thunder as a tribute to his teacher. The show would end up being a slight disappointment for the gate after just drawing 213 fans which would be a little smaller than the typical Gannosuke show prior to him coming back from retirement. Gannosuke and Miyamoto would start on the mat with one another with Miyamoto working on Gannosuke's knee and eventually placing him in the Figure Four Leglock. Gannosuke would reverse it into a pinfall and the two would go to the outside with Miyamoto ramming Gannosuke's knee against the ring post. Miyamoto would bring Gannosuke fighting back with smacks across the chest which the two would begin exchanging towards one another with Miyamoto knocking Gannosuke off his feet with one. Miyamoto would eventually get Gannosuke to the outside where he would dive over the top with a tope con hilo landing right on Gannosuke. Gannosuke and Miyamoto would make it back it in the ring and Miyamoto would attempt to deliver his hand spring elbow off the ropes but Gannosuke would catch him and deliver a suplex to Miyamoto and then follow that up with a clothesline. Gannosuke would then deliver his Praying Powerbomb and then set him up for the Fire Thunder with Miyamoto getting out of it. Gannosuke would charge at Miyamoto with a clothesline with Miyamoto catching the clothesline and Gannosuke turning it into a Gannosuke Clutch for two. Gannosuke would then come at Miyamoto and Miyamoto would catch him and wrap Gannosuke in the Gannosuke Clutch for two. Miyamoto would then nail Gannosuke with a clothesline and follow that up with Miyamoto hitting a Praying Powerbomb on Gannosuke which he would land directly on his head in a very scary spot but Gannosuke would still kick out at two. Miyamoto would then hit a moonsault off the top and then nail his own Thunder Fire on Gannosuke for two. Miyamoto would then place Gannosuke in the Octopus Hold to expose Gannosuke's broken ribs from just two weeks earlier and Gannosuke would would manage to break out of it once but Miyamoto would place it on him again and bring him to the mat with it to make Gannosuke submit immediately for Miyamoto's win over his teacher. Gannosuke and Miyamoto would shake hands afterwards. Hiroshi Tanabota would come out and lead the farewell with Gannosuke and Miyamoto kicking him to the ground to end the show.
Mr. Gannosuke would finally make his FREEDOMS debut on May 1, 2015 at Korakuen Hall a part of Kamui's WMF Army teaming with Onryo to take on the team of Tatsuhito Takaiwa and Toru Sugiura. Gannosuke would go up against Sugiura first who would have the biggest problem with the WMF Army after his partner Mammoth Sasaki had left him to join it. Gannosuke and Sugiura would run the ropes against one another with Sugiura delivering a drop kick to Gannosuke. Sugiura would take it to the mat but Gannosuke would reverse it and take control over Sugiura on the mat with Sugiura retreating and tagging in Takaiwa. Gannosuke and Takaiwa would begin exchanging chops at one another before Takaiwa would clothesline Gannosuke with Gannosuke tagging out to Onryo. Gannosuke would get tagged back in against Sugiura and begin working on his arm on the mat. Gannosuke would tag back in Onryo but would get an opening after Takaiwa would powerbomb Onryo causing all of Onryo's dust to get on his face blinding him. Gannosuke would come in and clothesline Takaiwa down to the mat. Gannosuke attempt the Praying Powerbomb but Takaiwa would pick Gannosuke up on his shoulders and deliver the Death Valley Bomb. Takaiwa would tag Sugiura in who would come off the top rope with a drop kick on Gannosuke. Onryo would come in to save Gannosuke and the two would deliver a suplex to Sugiura. Gannosuke and Onryo would send Sugiura in to the corner but Sugiura would jump on to the top rope and come off on both Gannosuke and Onryo with a flying body press. Sugiura would then deliver a back suplex to Gannosuke for two. Sugiura would then come at Gannosuke with a clothesline but instead Gannosuke would hit Sugiura with a hard clothesline instead. Gannosuke would hit the Praying Powerbomb for two before Gannosuke would finish Sugiura off with the Fire Thunder for the WMF Army win.
Mr. Gannosuke would team up with old friend Gosaku Goshogawara on May 17, 2015 at the Osaka Joto Ward Citizen Hall and challenge for the King of Freedom Tag Team Championship against Mammoth Sasaki and Kamui for Kamui's 10th Anniversary show. Gannosuke would jump Kamui right at the introduction and begin brawling with him in the crowd. Gannosuke would end up sending Kamui into the seats. Gannosuke would throw Kamui back in the ring and then send him into the ropes with Kamui coming back with a hurricanrana on Gannosuke. Kamui would deliver a drop kick to Gannosuke sending him to the outside with Kamui following with a Plancha to the outside. Gannosuke would get tagged back in later and go after Kamui with a chair to the stomach first and then to the back. Gannosuke would then bodyslam Kamui on to a barbed wire bat. Gannosuke set up a stack of chairs and deliver the Praying Powerbomb on Kamui into the stack of chairs. Gannosuke would then deliver a head butt to Kamui's crotch and then begin exchanging chops with Kamui with Gannosuke acting like he was falling down while going down and kicking Kamui in the crotch. Kamui would come back with a off the ropes clothesline and would then make the tag to Mammoth Sasaki. Mammoth would come off with a clothesline to Gannosuke and pick up a ladder and place it over his head and would begin smashing both Gannosuke and Gosaku with it. Mammoth would attempt to choke slam Gannosuke but Gannosuke would manage to toss Mammoth to the other side of the ring but Mammoth would come back with a choke buster on Gannosuke. Mammoth would then place a chair over Gannosuke's head and nail him with the Mammoth Home Run with Gosaku having to make the save. Kamui would then come off the top rope and deliver a flying drop kick with Gannosuke making the tag to Gosaku. Gannosuke would make the tag back in against Mammoth and the two would begin to deliver dueling clotheslines to one another. Mammoth would come at Gannosuke with one and Gannosuke would instead grab a hold of his arm and deliver the Gannosuke Clutch for two. Gannosuke would tag in Gosaku and begin brawling outside with Mammoth as Kamui would eventually finish off Gosaku with a Fire Bird Splash to retain their King of Freedom Tag Team titles.
May 26, 2015 at the Tokyo Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, Gannosuke would compete for Guts World against The Winger in a FMW vs. W*ING match. Gannosuke and The Winger would stall and they would finally lock up and the match would become a very mat based match with Gannosuke working on The Wingers leg and The Winger being able to apply an arm bar on Gannosuke that he would have to break out of. Ten minutes into the match when Gannosuke would attempt the first impact move of a Brainbuster but Winger would kick him low. Winger would go to the top but Gannosuke would throw him off the turnbuckle and send him into the ropes with Winger grabbing him and backsliding him into a two count. Gannosuke would then use a backslide himself for the two count and attempt the Fire Thunder but Winger would cradle him for a two count. Winger would then setup Gannosuke for a Praying Powerbomb but Gannosuke would turn it into a Gannosuke Clutch for the win in probably the less bumps ever taken in a pro-wrestling match that went over 10 minutes in the history of wrestling. Gannosuke after the main event would come to challenge Daisuke who had just successfully defended his GWC Title to challenge for the title at the Guts World show on July 19, 2015 at the Tokyo Shinjuku FACE as Daisuke would accept and the two would shake hands.
Mr. Gannosuke and The Winger would form a team after their match against one another the previous month as they would take on the team of Daisuke and Guts Ishijima on June 16, 2015 at the Tokyo Shin-Kiba 1st Ring show with Gannosuke picking up the win over Daisuke with the Fire Thunder to setup their singles GWC Title match for the next month at the Shinjuku FACE.
Mr. Gannosuke would team with fellow WMF Army members Mammoth Sasaki and Kamui against the Unchain team of Masashi Takeda, Jun Kasai, and Kenji Fukimoto on June 25, 2015 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Gannosuke would charge right at Takeda who he would be facing off against for the first time. Takeda would give Gannosuke a couple of knees to the stomach but as Takeda would charge at Gannosuke in the ropes Gannosuke would manage to flip him over the top and send him to the outside. Gannosuke like the others would brawl outside until it would eventually turn back into a regular tag match with Gannosuke tagging in to slam Fukimoto. Gannosuke would tag in Mammoth as they would both send Fukimoto into the ropes and deliver their double shoulder block tackle that they did back in FMW as a tag team in 2001. Gannosuke would then deliver a Falcon Arrow to Fukimoto and then charge at him with a lariat but Fukimoto would duck it and nail Gannosuke with a clothesline himself. Fukimoto would tag Takeda who would come at Gannosuke with a knee to the face and then a running knee to the face while Gannosuke laid in the corner. Takeda would place a chair across the head and then smash that chair against Gannosuke's head with Gannosuke being able to kick out but holding his head in extreme pain. Takeda would pick up Gannosuke but Gannosuke would grab Takeda and deliver a back suplex on him out of nowhere and then tag out. Fukimoto would pick up a ladder and charge at Kamui with it to send him in the turnbuckle but Kamui would grab it and stand his ground until Kasai would come in to help Fukimoto with Gannosuke counteracting and getting behind Kamui to try and push them back. Takeda would come by to help the Unchain members but the WMF Army would be balanced out by Mammoth using his power to send all the Unchain members into the turnbuckle with the ladder. Kamui, Mammoth, and Gannosuke would all charge at Fukimoto in the turnbuckle with lariats. Mammoth would throw some chairs on the mat and Gannosuke would deliver a Praying Powerbomb to Fukimoto on the chairs with Takeda having to make the save. Gannosuke and Mammoth would hold the ladder while Kamui would climb and deliver a Swanton Bomb off the ladder but would end up missing it. Gannosuke and Mammoth would both get tossed outside the ring and Fukimoto would finish off Kamui with a Package Piledriver for the Unchain win over the WMF Army.
Mr. Gannosuke would challenge for his first singles title in over 16 years on July 19, 2015 at the Tokyo Shinjuku FACE as he would go up against Daisuke. Gannosuke and Daisuke would start the match with early mat base work based around Gannosuke trying to place Daisuke in a arm bar and a head scissors. Daisuke would eventually place Gannosuke in a bow and arrow while on the mat and then begin working on Gannosuke's knees by dropping elbows on it before placing him in the Figure Four. Gannosuke would manage to turn it around and after working on Daisuke would take the protection off the turnbuckle and then send Daisuke into it but would end up getting reverse into it himself. Daisuke would then come charging and Gannosuke would move out of the way resulting in Daisuke hitting his elbow with it. Gannosuke would send Daisuke's chest and then shoulder into the unprotected turnbuckle before working on his shoulder trying to get him to submit. After being unable to get him to submit, a frustrated Gannosuke would just kick his shoulder and then grab Daisuke and then deliver a running arm drag twice. Daisuke would come back with some elbow shots to Gannosuke to eventually knock him down. Daisuke would climb the top turnbuckle but Gannosuke would grab him and pick Daisuke up like he was about to deliver the Fire Thunder. Daisuke would manage to slide away and Gannosuke would charge at him with a clothesline but Daisuke would move out of the way and Gannosuke would hit the referee instead. Daisuke would come at Gannosuke with an elbow shot which Gannosuke would grab and roll into the Gannosuke Clutch without a referee to count. Daisuke would come back with a Backdrop Suplex on Gannosuke and then come off the top rope with a Frog Splash with Gannosuke kicking out at two. Daisuke would deliver a Tiger Driver and again Gannosuke would kick out at two. Daisuke would charge at Gannosuke with a Sliding D but Gannosuke would grab his arm before connecting and deliver another running arm drag to Daisuke. Gannosuke would then place Daisuke in a armbar again but Daisuke would manage to grab the rope to break out of the move. Gannosuke would deliver the Praying Powerbomb but Daisuke would manage to kick out. Gannosuke would then deliver a Northern Lights Suplex but again Daisuke would kick out Gannosuke would go for the Fire Thunder but Daisuke would slip out and come back at Gannosuke with a Roaring Elbow. Daisuke would begin laying at Gannosuke with elbows to the face before knocking Gannosuke down to the mat for two. Daisuke would then hit the Falcon Arrow with Gannosuke managing to kick out again. Daisuke would then hit the Sliding D and Gannosuke would even kick out of that. Daisuke would then come off the top rope and smash Gannosuke with a Sliding D and even then Gannosuke would still kick out. Daisuke would then attempt a Back Suplex but Gannosuke would manage to get behind Daisuke but Daisuke would counter by getting behind Gannosuke and then delivering the Back Suplex to get the three count over Gannosuke.
Mr. Gannosuke appeared on August 5, 2015 at Korakuen Hall for a special taped segment on Hayabusa for the national broadcast show 24 Hours that would air on Nippon TV on August 23, 2015. NTV would book Korakuen Hall for the television event for this segment of a retirement ceremony for Hayabusa. Those attended included Tatsumi Fujinami, Genichiro Tenryu, Kenta Kobashi, Keiji Muto, Ray, and Naomichi Marufuji. Hayabusa's music played and Hayabusa appeared in his wheel chair before standing up and walking to the ring. Hayabusa would then begin to walk up the stairs to the ring with Mammoth Sasaki having his hand on the back of Hayabusa. Gannosuke and Dragon Kid would open the ropes and help him through into the ring with Hayabusa and several other wrestlers getting teary eyed. It would be the second time that Hayabusa would step into the ring since his accident back on October 22, 2001. A retirement ceremony would then be held for Hayabusa with Jinsei Shinzaki ringing the bell 10 times. Hayabusa would later state that the retirement ceremony was more of a symbol of him having a fresh start. Gannosuke would take a picture with Hayabusa, Jinsei Shinzaki, and Dragon Kid afterwards backstage.
Mr. Gannosuke would return to the Guts World promotion on August 24, 2015 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring when he teamed up with The Winger against the IWA Army of Keizo Matsuda and Yuji Kito with Gannosuke suffering another loss after Kito would throw powder in Gannosuke's face causing him to be blinded and not see Matsuda's Lariat coming as Matsuda who was just a young boy twenty years earlier while Gannosuke and him were in IWA Japan together would get his first pinfall of his career over Gannosuke.
Mr. Gannosuke would return to FREEDOMS for the Jun Kasai promoted Death Match show on August 28, 2015 at Korakuen Hall as he would team up with Kamui and Daisuke Masaoka against GENTARO, The Winger, and Toru Sugiura. Gannosuke would get in a couple of his key spots including the flying drop kick off the top turnbuckle as well as the Praying Powerbomb and but Sugiura would end up scoring the win over Masaoka with a Fisherman's Driver in a Street Fight Death Match with Gannosuke coming out of the match with a bruised tailbone afterwards.
The only promotion that Mr. Gannosuke is currently booked for going forward for the rest of 2015 is for the Guts World promotion as they will be running a Shin-Kiba 1st Ring once a month with Gannosuke booked on every show. Mr. Gannosuke will team up with The Winger on September 29, 2015 as they look to gain revenge on the IWA Army from their loss in August as they will take on Keizo Matsuda, Yuji Kito, and Riki Ishin in a Handicap Match.
I have had the chance to meet and talk with Mr.
Gannosuke multiple times through my six times in Japan. One of the most eventful
nights was attending his 45th Birthday Party on June 22, 2013 at Naoshi Sano's
Stanley Club. Having a chance to really speak with him and ask him questions
about his career. It was one of the better nights while in Tokyo that year.
Mr. Gannosuke retired after a 17 year career due to injuries and just being
burnt out over the years. You could tell he really missed being in the ring
while promoting his shows every couple of months and taking a couple of bumps
and delivering his signature moves. He spent a lot of time training really hard
after deciding to make a come back and has been able to pull off looking just
like he did ten years ago. For the last year he has been able to put on some
great matches since his come back to show that he really does still have it and
making a return to the ring even though there was some doubt in his mind has
turned out to be quite the success and even though he is now in his later
forties he continues to prove that he can still go with anyone.
