Kenji Sawaragi was born on June 17, 1981 in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo.
Sawaragi grew up as a huge pro-wrestling fan due to his father being a huge fan and taking him too many shows as a child.
After graduating high school, Sawaragi attended Kansai University where he majored in Economics. One thing that made Kansai University stand out was that it had its own backyard wrestling promotion called KWA which Sawaragi joined right away in 2000. While working for the promotion he would meet a young man by the name of Shinobu Sugawara who was also working for the small college promotion and the two would become friends right away. Sawaragi would wrestle as Duncan Sawaragi for KWA before graduating in 2004 from the college.
Sawaragi would look to take his four years of experience and become a professional as he would sign up for Mr. Gannosuke's WMF Dojo in May 2004 and pass the physical training test to be able to live in the Dojo and work on his dream of becoming a pro-wrestler.
WMF at the time would be inactive but Mr. Gannosuke would continue to train the group of former FMW young boys of Tomokazu Morita going by the name Garuda, Satoru Makita going by the name Soldier, Seiji Ikeda, and the only other non former FMW wrestler in the Dojo Mineo Fujita. Another non former FMW wrestler had trained the past year in Yuko Miyamoto but left after the promotion became inactive to join the 666 promotion and enter into their Dojo.
Kenji Sawaragi would work his first pro-wrestling matches in July 2004 for the Beer Garden Pro-Wrestling which were shows held for 666, DDT, and WMF Dojo students to work and gain some experience in front of a crowd that only had to pay for the beer to be able to come into the Saitama Kawagoe Pepe Garden and watch. Sawaragi would face off against Mammoth Sasaki on July 18, 2004 and would get destroyed before getting pinned in the process. Sawaragi's friend Shinobu who had joined the 666 Dojo would also be on the show as he would face off against Mr. Gannosuke who would destroy him just like Mammoth had beaten the hell out of Sawaragi.
WMF would start back up on August 7, 2004 at the Tokyo Kitazawa Hall where Kamui would once again face off against Mammoth Sasaki but the matches would not be considered his official debut but just a match where he would once again be destroyed by Mammoth before getting pinned easily.
Sawaragi would then begin working early Challenge Matches for WMF shows which are better known as Dark Matches that were not being considered Sawaragi's first real match. Sawaragi would face off against former college friend Shinobu for the first time in WMF on November 6, 2004 at the Tokyo Takenotsuka Battle Sphere with Shinobu getting the win after a hurricanrana. Sawaragi would get his first ever win although still not official on November 28, 2004 at the Takenotsuka Battle Sphere after making Shinobu give up to a Crab Hold.
Sawaragi and Shinobu would wrestle the next four WMF shows all being dark matches. Sawaragi's first match against someone that wasn't his college friend for the first time in six months would be Munenori Sawa who was debuting his new Lingerie Muto gimmick in WMF on February 19, 2005 at the Takenotsuka Battle Sphere with Sawaragi picking up the pinfall over the unknown comedy wrestler although Muto would get his win back the next day over Sawaragi in the same building.
Kenji Sawaragi would finally have his official debut match after almost a year since he joined the WMF Dojo and eight months after he had started working matches in a WMF ring. Sawaragi's debut opponent would be against former FMW Dojo trainer GOEMON who would go on to easily to defeat Sawaragi on April 3, 2005 at the Saitama Pepe Atlas Hall with a Crab Hold in the opening match.
Sawaragi's next opponent would be his own trainer Mr. Gannosuke in the opening match on May 14, 2005 at the Tokyo Takenotsuka Battle Sphere with Gannosuke also making Sawaragi submit to the Crab Hold. Sawaragi's first non opening match to his career would be on May 15, 2005 at the Osaka Delfin Arena as he would team up with GOEMON and Gosaku to take on the team of Soldier, Mad Man Pondo, and Necro Butcher in a wild brawl with Butcher hitting a Super Powerbomb on Gosaku for the win.
It would be announced on May 31, 2005 that WMF's main sponsor Laing, Inc. was officially pulling out of the promotion. Mammoth Sasaki, Garuda, and Seiji Ikeda would end up leaving the promotion and the promotion would work a much smaller schedule from then on.
Sawaragi would face off against two former FMW wrestlers the next two months in opening matches as he would lose to Onryo on July 31, 2005 after submitting to the 66 Lock and then losing to Chocoball Mukai after submitting to a crab hold on August 27, 2005.
Sawaragi would get another chance to wrestle in a non opening match as he would team up with Tomoya Adachi and take on the team of Asian Cougar and Chocoball Mukai on September 9, 2005 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring with Sawaragi getting pinned after getting his face stomped on by Cougar.
Sawaragi would then face another rookie by the name of isami on December 25, 2005 at the New Battle Sphere in Tokyo and although isami would have the least experienced than any other opponent that Sawaragi had faced over the last several months he as well would end up making Sawaragi submit to a Leg Hold.
Later in the show Sawaragi would end up joining the new lead heel stable created by Soldier and Mineo Fujita called "The New Generation Army" with their goal to take out the veterans like Mr. Gannosuke in WMF.
Sawaragi would wrestle in his first main event of his career on January 20, 2006 at the Tokyo Shin-Kiba 1st Ring and team up with his New Generation Army members Soldier and Mineo Fujita against Mr. Gannosuke, GOEMON, and 17 year old Katsuhiko Nakajima with GOEMON rolling up Mineo Fujita with the Gannosuke Clutch for the win for the veterans.
Sawaragi and Soldier would team up in the main event again on February 5, 2006 at the Osaka Delfin Arena to take on Mr. Gannosuke and GOEMON in a Street Fight and once again the veterans would show to be too much as GOEMON would end up hitting his Swanton Bomb on Sawaragi for the win.
Sawaragi would be moved down the card for the next show but would team up with former WMF Dojo student Yuko Miyamoto and take on the team of Gosaku and Masamune on March 3, 2006 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring with Gosaku
making Sawaragi submit to a Camel Clutch for the loss although Sawaragi would
end up earning Gosaku's respect and shaking hands with him afterwards.
Although the New Generation Army was already pretty much finished by the next show on March 27, 2006 at the Akita Municipal Island Gym as it would be the first time that Sawaragi would be in the same ring against Tarzan Goto. Sawaragi would team up with Ricky Fuji and Asian Cougar against Mr. Gannosuke, Tarzan Goto, and GOEMON with Goto getting the pinfall over Sawaragi after hitting him with the lariat.
Sawaragi's next opponent on April 21, 2006 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring would actually be almost 7 years younger than him but Katsuhiko Nakajima would still manage to finish off Sawaragi in under 5 minutes after knocking him out with the R-15.
Sawaragi would then team up with Ricky Fuji and Tomoya Adachi on June 11, 2006 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as they would lose to the team of Asian Cougar, Masamune, and Shinobu after Masamune would pin Sawaragi with a Ace Crusher. Although Sawaragi was losing in almost every match, he was showing much promise in the spotlight of his matches that Mr. Gannosuke would decide to repackage him as a highflying masked wrestler since Garuda was no longer with the promotion.
Kenji Sawaragi would end up working his last match under his real name on July 1, 2006 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against his former leader of the New Generation Army in Soldier. Sawaragi would end up suffering a bloody nose during the match and Soldier would end up finishing Sawaragi off with his BUU for the win and afterwards Sawaragi's name would not be booked for anymore upcoming shows.
Kenji Sawaragi would debut under his new mask gimmick Kamui on August 27, 2006 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as the Mystery Opponent in the main event of the WMF 4th Anniversary show against Mineo Fujita. Kamui would debut new moves to his arsenal including the Asai Moonsault, the Fire Bird Splash, and even a Phoenix Splash. But Fujita would manage to move out of the way of the Phoenix Splash and deliver a Tiger Supplex to be able to defeat Kamui.
The second chapter of Kenji Sawaragi's career was now under way.
Kamui would team up with his former New Generation Army partners in Soldier and Mineo Fujita on September 30, 2006 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against the former FMW veterans of Mr. Gannosuke, GOEMON, and Gosaku with Soldier managing to reverse Mr. Gannosuke's Gannosuke Clutch and applying the move to him instead to get the victory for the former New Generation Army.
Kamui and Soldier would team up in the main event of the WMF Fiesta in Osaka on October 15, 2006 at the Osaka Delfin Arena as they would end up taking the loss to the team of Mineo Fujita and Osaka Pro's Tigers Mask after Fujita would once again get the pinfall over Kamui with a Tiger Supplex.

Kamui would then team up with Tomoya Adachi to take on the former WEW Tag Team Champions of GOEMON and Onryo on December 9, 2006 with Kamui once again taking the loss after diving onto GOEMON and GOEMON managing to reverse it to land on top of Kamui to score the win.
Kamui would work his last match of 2006 by teaming up with Gosaku on December 17, 2006 at the Toyohashi City Gym and facing off against the outsider team of Leatherface and Masayoshi Motegi in a Street Fight with Motegi putting Kamui through a table with a Fisherman Buster to put away Kamui for the win as Kamui would end the year not having gotten a single pinfall for himself in all of 2006.
Kamui and Gosaku would enter themselves into the Marvelous Future Tag Team Tournament to start off 2007. Their first round match would be on January 13, 2007 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as they would go up against Shinobu and female wrestler Kyoko Kimura after Gosaku would pin Shinobu in order to advance into the semi-finals.
Kamui and Gosaku would wrestle their Semi-Finals match in the Marvelous Future Tag Team Tournament on February 17, 2007 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against the team of Tomoya Adachi and Hideki Hosaka with them scoring the upset win after Gosaku would manage to hit the Gosaku Drop on Adachi for the win in order to advance to the finals of the tournament. Kamui and Gosaku would take on the team of Mineo Fujita and Kitten Kid later in the show in the main event for the finals of the tournament but the underdog team of Kamui and Gosaku would not manage to pull off the big time upset after Mineo Fujita would hit the Fire Bird Splash on Kamui to win the Marvelous Tag Team Tournament.
Kamui would then team up with GOEMON for the first time as they would take on the team of Gran Hamada and Onryo on February 24, 2007 at the Osaka Azalea Taisho as the legendary Hamada would get the win after hitting Kamui with a Hama-Chan Cutter off the top rope to put away Kamui.

at the Osaka IMP Hall in front of the biggest crowd he had ever wrestled for at
the time as he would team up with Super Delfin and Kanjuro Matsuyama to defeat

The match would randomly come to a stop every couple of minutes for all the wrestlers to begin chugging beer before having to go back in the ring with all the wrestlers beginning to get buzzed or drunk during the match. Despite being drunk Fujita would still manage to defeat Kamui after hitting Kamui with a Knee Kick to get the pinfall for the KHM Army once again.
Kamui would team up with Soldier and Yuko Miyamoto on September 29, 2007 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against Mr. Gannosuke, Mineo Fujita, and Kitten Kid. Kitten Kid who had feuded with Gannosuke for months due to Gannosuke's cutting off his tail would agree to team up with him after Gannosuke would give him back his tail. It would end up costing the KHM Army after Fujita was about to put away Yuko Miyamoto out of nowhere Kitten Kid would come off the top rope with a dropkick on Fujita to set up Soldier hitting a Styles Clash on Fujita to get the first major win for the WMF Army over the KHM Army.

Mineo Fujita would start off by defeating Kankuro Hoshino which would mean Kamui would go up against Mineo Fujita and Kamui would almost finally defeat Fujita after hitting him with a Fire Bird Splash but Yasu Urano would manage to grab Fujita's leg to break up the pinfall. Kamui would go for another pinfall with a cradle but Fujita would end up reversing it to pin Kamui once again. The final match of the series would be Mr. Gannosuke against the bloody SYU with Gannosuke finishing off SYU for another KHM victory.
The WMF Army of Kamui, Soldier, and Kitten Kid would get another shot at the KHM Army of Mr. Gannosuke, Mineo Fujita, and Yasu Urano on December 29, 2007 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would challenge for his first ever title on January 3, 2008 at the Osaka Delfin Arena as he would take on Osaka Pro's Condor for the MWF Jr. Heavyweight Title although Kamui would fail to come away with his first ever pro-wrestling title as Condor would end up defeating Kamui with the Heaven and Earth Thunder for the successful title defense.
Kamui would start off 2008 in another WMF vs. KHM match as he would team with Soldier and Kengo Takai against Mr. Gannosuke, Hideki Hosaka, and Leatherface on January 14, 2008 at the Osaka World Hall Pavilion as Kamui would get another big win for his team after hitting Leatherface with the Fire Bird Splash and getting the pinfall in the last of the WMF vs. KHM series of matches.

Another WMF & K-Dojo against WMF & K-Dojo match would be made as Kamui would team with K-Dojo's JOE & Apple Miyuki against Soldier and his partners Kyoko Kimura and K-Dojo's Yuji Hino on March 29, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would end up getting the better of Kyoko Kimura to get the pinfall on her after delivering the Fire Bird Splash on her to get the win for his team.
Kamui would work his first Mr. Gannosuke Productions show on May 1, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in the opening match against former WMF trainee Yuko Miyamoto with the elder Miyamoto getting the win after Kamui submit to his kneelock in the opening match of the show. Gannosuke after the main event would announced his plans to retire at the end of the year which would put his WMF promotion in much jeopardy due to the financial losses it was suffering for every show put on.
Kamui would then team up with the other WMF trainees Mineo Fujita and Yuko Miyamoto to face Madoka, Boso Boy Raito, and Kaji Yamato in a WMF vs. K-Dojo match on May 17, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Fujita would end up hitting his newly named WMF Style Downburst to put away Raito to end the WMF vs. K-Dojo feud.
The Apache Army which had been rivals with WMF since 2004 was now under new management with Kintaro Kanemura out as the top guy in the promotion and in was Takashi Sasaki who was friends with Mr. Gannosuke which would cause the WMF and Apache Army to begin working with each other again. As a result, Mammoth Sasaki would return to WMF for the first time in almost 3 years as he would team with Kamui who he had beaten up badly during Kamui's first months in wrestling as they would team up on June 28, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring to take on the former FMW wrestlers Soldier and another return to the promotion Garuda who would end up getting the win after Soldier would hit his BUU off the top rope on Kamui to get the win.
Kamui would wrestle in the biggest match of his career on July 27, 2008 at the Osaka World Hall Pavilion as Mr. Gannosuke would return for one more match in WMF to face his Dojo student Kamui in the main event of the show. This would be Kamui's chance to show Gannosuke everything he had and although he would end up messing up his Asai Moonsault with his leg landing on Gannosuke's crotch on the outside he would still manage to put a strong fight against his teacher before being put away with the Fire Thunder for the win. Gannosuke would then announce that due to his retirement upcoming that the next WMF show in August would end up being the last one for the promotion.
Kamui's mess up of the Asai Moonsault would end up screwing up his knee and for the following month he would be in a cast with crutches and out for the next month, but he be given the good news that he would be able to compete at the last WMF show at the end of August.
The last WMF show would be held on August 31, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would get a shot to take on Mammoth Sasaki in a singles match since the Summer of 2004 when Mammoth would destroy Kenji Sawaragi in squashes. Kamui would even get the band that created his theme song to perform for the show. Kamui would end up putting up a better fight than he had years prior but Mammoth would still end up being just too strong for him and would end up putting away Kamui with the 29 Years Old for the win. Mineo Fujita would end up defeating Soldier in the last match in WMF and afterwards the WMF roster of Kamui, Soldier, Mineo Fujita, Yuko Miyamoto, Ricky Fuji, and Kitten Kid would all pose together as the promotion that had created Kamui was now closing its door after 6 years of financial struggles as the third stage of Kenji Sawaragi's career was about to begin.
It would later come out that Soldier, Mineo Fujita, and Kamui had all gotten together before the final WMF show and would look to start up their own small promotion with Soldier as the President of the company. The idea would never get off the ground after they would not be able to find a sponsor to promote the shows and as a result their promotion would never materialize and Soldier would decide to just retire from pro-wrestling instead.
Although Mr. Gannosuke had closed WMF due to him retiring and its financial problems he had asked for Takashi Sasaki to give spots to GOEMON who would have to return to his real name Koji Nakagawa, Ricky Fuji, and Kamui for the Apache Army promotion. Nakagawa and Ricky Fuji would be given spots but Kamui would have to start all over to be apart of the Apache Army and be once again treated like a rookie despite being in wrestling for 4 years. Kamui would get his first shot for the Apache Army promotion on September 12, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in a dark match labeled as a Kamui Test Match against Big Japan's preliminary wrestler Atsushi Ohashi with the match going to a 10 minute limit draw.
Kamui would wrestler another Test Match on September 22, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. This time the match would be the opening match on the card instead of a dark match and it would be against Takashi Sasaki who wanted to see for himself what Kamui had in the ring. Kamui would end up going over 10 minutes with Takashi Sasaki before having to submit to the Crab Hold which is the basic finisher for rookies who are still having to pay their dues.
Kamui would face off against another Apache Army wrestler in The Winger to open the show on October 10, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring with Kamui continuing the pay his dues all over again and easily get to defeated by The Winger as Kamui was going to have to get use to be a opening match wrestler again for awhile
Kamui would make his IWA Japan debut on October 19, 2008 at the Tokyo Shinjuku FACE teaming with the man he made his debut against in GOEMON against the IWA Japan team of Keizo Matsuda and Toshihiro Sueyoshi with Kamui coming up short again for his debut for the promotion as Matsuda would get the pinfall victory over him.
Kamui's next Test Match would be against a non Apache Army wrestler in Daisaku Shimoda on October 24, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as Shimoda would end up putting away Kamui with a Backdrop Suplex for the win.
The next Test Match would be on November 14, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against someone Kamui was very familiar with in Mammoth Sasaki as Mammoth would once again treat Kamui like a rookie with Kamui getting a little bit of offense before getting put away once again by Mammoth's 29 Year Old. Takashi Sasaki afterwards and announced to Kamui that he had passed his test matches and was now an official member of the Apache Army.
Kamui would work a Mr. Gannosuke's Productions show at the Kumamoto Circulation Information Hall on November 22, 2008 in the semi-main event by teaming up with Kageki Pro's Azteca against Gran Hamada and Fugofugo Yumeji with Hamada getting the pinfall over Kamui again after using the Hama-chan Cutter for the win.
Although Kamui had was now an official member Apache Army he would still continue to work opening matches on every show like at the next show on November 28, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring where he would lose to DDT's Masa Takanishi in the opening match of the show.
The next Kamui match at the Apache Army would be against another former WMF Dojo wrestler as the Apache Army would bring in Garuda on December 12, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring for one match against Kamui the person that had taken Garuda's spot after he left WMF. The more experienced Garuda would end up putting away Kamui with the Falcon Crash for the win.
Although he had taken him on in two different tag team matches Kamui would get to face Gran Hamada for the first time in a singles match for the Togichi Promotion at the Togichi Sports Center on December 14, 2008 with Hamada once again finishing off Kamui with the Hamada-chan Cutter for the win for the legend.

They would face off against the FMW Legends Army members of Mammoth Sasaki, Tetsuhiro Kuroda, and Koji Nakagawa in a Barbed wire Board Death Match. Kamui would go all out to try and get the big upset after hitting a Swanton Bomb off a ladder on the barbed wire board placed over Mammoth's body and then following that up by hitting a Fire Bird Splash on Mammoth but before the referee could even count to one Mammoth would be up and have a hold of Kamui and deliver the 29 Years Old to finish Kamui off for the loss.
Although Kamui would not wrestle on the show, he would second for his trainer Mr. Gannosuke's Retirement show on December 27, 2008 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as Gannosuke would now no longer be able to try and help Kamui's career and it would now be all up to Takashi Sasaki.
The Apache Army would start off 2009 with completely different sponsors and more influence by Takashi Sasaki which looked to be a good thing for Kamui as the two over the last couple of months had formed a friendship although Kamui was still setting up the ring and and wrestling in opening matches. Kamui's next opening match would be against his former college friend Shinobu who he hadn't wrestled in years. Shinobu would end up picking up the win between the two long time friends after Shinobu would hit his S.E.X. Shooting Star Press on Kamui for the win.
Kamui's next opponent in the opening match would be against DDT's Yasu Urano who had spent some months training in the FMW Dojo towards the end of the promotion for the February 19, 2009 show at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would end up getting one of his longer singles matches as it would end up going over 16 minutes before Urano would end up putting Kamui away with the Tombstone Piledriver for the win.
Kamui would be moved up from the opening match to the second match due to his opponent being veteran Tetsuhiro Kuroda on March 16, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring with Kamui getting the chance to face off against many different FMW wrestlers in singles match with Kuroda putting away Kamui with a lariat to get the win.
Kamui's next opponent would be another former FMW wrestler on April 17, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against Yoshihito Sasaki and Sasaki would be just too strong and experienced and would end up putting Kamui away with the Argentine Coaster for the pin.
Kamui's next opening match opponent would be K-Dojo's Kaji Yamato who was apart of their WMF vs. K-Dojo feud the year prior. Kamui's match against Yamato on May 22, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring would end with Yamato getting Kamui to submit to his Spider Lock as Kamui continued to pay his dues for the Apache Army promotion. Later in the show, Kintaro Kanemura who had been banned by sponsors for the Apache Army would end up showing up upset over Takashi Sasaki taking his promotion. This would upset many of the sponsors for the promotion and Takashi Sasaki would come to the conclusion that he would be ending the Apache Army and starting over under a new promotion name after finishing up the already booked shows.
Kamui would still continue to set the ring and practice in it before the show to pay his dues like he was a rookie despite being fours year a pro. Kamui's next opponent would be on June 26, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as he would face off against former WMF trainee and current Big Japan Death Match Champion Yuko Miyamoto with Miyamoto getting Kamui to submit to the figure four leglock. After the match, Miyamoto would leave the ring and the Baramon Brothers Shu and Kei would jump Kamui and begin attacking him. Their scheduled opponent of Naoshi Sano would run to the ring to make the save and a tag match would begin with Kamui and Sano against the Baramon Brothers but Kamui would end up taking the loss for the second match in a row after Baramon Shu would hit his Zombie Kick to put away Kamui.
Kamui would take on former FMW wrestler Onryo in the last Apache Army promoted show under Takashi Sasaki on August 8, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring at the Ichinoseki City Gym with Onryo being yet another former FMW wrestler to defeat Kamui after putting him in the Onryo Clutch for the win. Kamui would come out to the ring after the final match with Takashi Sasaki, Jun Kasai, Masashi Takeda, and GENTARO as the Apache Army would officially end.
Takashi Sasaki would announce following the end of the Apache Army promotion that he would be creating a new promotion called FREEDOMS which would not be a Death Match oriented promotion like the Apache Army was. Kamui would attend the conference as he would be one of the key figures of the five man roster.
Kamui would make his Big Japan debut on August 19, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in a Eight Man Tournament as he would team with FREEDOMS members Takashi Sasaki, Jun Kasai, and The Winger against Shadow WX, Jaki Numazawa, Abdullah Kobayashi, and Ryuji Yamakawa. It would also be Kamui's first ever Fluorescent Light Tube Death Match as Kamui would feel the glass break across his body for the first time before Kobayashi would drop an elbow on Kamui with a light tube across his body to get the win in the tournament for the Big Japan team to move on in the finals.
Kamui would end up stealing the show for the very first FREEDOMS show on September 2, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as he would take on Abdullah Kobayashi in a Hardcore Rules Match. Although the match would favor Kobayashi it would be Kamui that would take advantage of the Hardcore Rules as he would use a barbed wire baseball bat on Kobayashi and then lay the bat across his stomach and deliver a Moonsault on Kobayashi with the bat laying on him and then follow that up with a Fire Bird Splash with the bat still across Kobayashi's body as Kamui was stealing the show of the first FREEDOMS show. Kamui would even place a table on the top turnbuckle and place a ladder on top of the table and begin to climb it but Kobayashi would end up getting up in time and knocking Kamui high off the ladder. Kobayashi would end up delivering a Piledriver on the ladder and then finishing off Kamui with a backdrop elbow as Kamui was definitely beginning to show progress.
Kamui would get booked for a Kazushi Miyamoto promoted show on September 3, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as he would get to face his old rival Mineo Fujita and like many of their other matches against each other it would be Mineo Fujita that would come out on top by defeating Kamui.
Kamui would then team up with Takashi Sasaki on September 27, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as they would face off against the team of TAJIRI and Minoru Fujita with Kamui getting knocked out from a kick by TAJIRI right away. TAJIRI not wanting to finish the match right away without getting a chance to face Takashi Sasaki would let Sasaki tag in the knocked out Kamui. Kamui would get another chance at TAJIRI and would deliver some of his moves, but he would end up missing his 450 Fire Bird Splash and TAJIRI would get up and deliver another Buzzsaw Kick to get pinfall over Kamui.
Kamui would get another shot at a Hardcore Rules match that stole the show the month prior as he would take on Asian Cougar on October 14, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would end up delivering a Moonsault off a ladder from the entrance on Cougar. Cougar would come back by throwing Kamui through a table as well hitting a dive over the top rope and land on Kamui with a chair smashing against his face in the process as Cougar would end up hitting a Facebuster on the chair to put away Kamui as Kamui had once again one of the better matches on the show.
Kamui would reunite with Mineo Fujita as a tag team on October 20, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring for the Secret Base promotion as they face the team of Atsushi Ohashi and Ferist with Fujita getting the win for the former WMF team after delivering a Swanton Bomb on Ferist for the win.
After two straight single matches at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in FREEDOMS that would end up stealing the show Kamui would be put in a pointless six man instead at the next Shin-Kiba 1st Ring show on November 11, 2009 as he would team up with Ricky Fuji and Antonio Honda against Brahman Shu, Brahman Kei, and Ken45° with Brahman Shu again putting away Kamui with a Zombie Kick for the win.
Kamui would get booked for Big Japan's end of the year big show on December 4, 2009 at the Yokohama Bunka Gym as it would be the biggest show that Kamui would get to be apart of for his career as he would team up with Daikokubo Benkei against college friend Shinobu and Yuichi Taniguchi with Shinobu again getting the win over Kamui after hitting him with the Shooting Star Press.
Kamui would return to FREEDOMS to team with former WMF friend Ricky Fuji to face off against the Brahman Brothers on December 9, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring and although Kamui would end up hitting his Fire Bird Splash it would not be enough as the Brahman Kei would end up making Kamui submit to the Triangle Scorpion for another Kamui loss to the Brahman Brothers.
Kamui would come up with one of the most creative matches and the most exciting of his career on December 25, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring for Jun Kasai's Christmas Death Match show against MASADA in a Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight Death Match. Kamui would bring a chain to the match while MASADA would bring a cinderblock as his weapon of choice. MASADA would use his cinderblock by crushing into Kamui's stomach. Kamui would come back by throwing MASADA out of the ring and then delivering his Asai Moonsault to the outside. MASADA and Kamui would begin brawling up the bleachers where MASADA would toss Kamui down the steps of the bleachers. They would begin brawling outside the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring as Kamui would throw MASADA Into the entrance gate of the building and then begin to open it to allow a large opening in the building. Kamui would then get in his personal car and slam the door against MASADA's crotch. Kamui would then start the car and bring it into the building where he would MASADA with it. Kamui would try it again but this time MASADA would throw one of the cinderblocks right into the front windshield of Kamui's car. Kamui would get out and throw MASADA on top of the back of the car and would move back and dive off a chair onto MASADA's body to make the cover on top of back of his car.
MASADA would come back with a kick to Kamui's gut and then pick up to deliver a Powerbomb through the back window of the car. MASADA would make the cover and despite glass sticking out of his back Kamui would manage to kick out. MASADA would then bring Kamui back in the ring where he would attempt to supplex him out of the ring on top of the car but Kamui would fight back and knock MASADA out of the ring on top of the car instead. Kamui would then climb the top rope and dive off onto MASADA laying on top of the car and make the cover but only get two. Kamui would then DDT MASADA on top of the car but still only get two. Kamui would then go up to the top rope again but this time MASADA would manage to get up and deliver a superplex off the top rope onto the top of the car instead. Kamui would still manage to kick out as the fans would begin chanting Kamui's name for the effort.
Kamui would fight back and climb the top rope again but again it would turn out to be a poor decision as MASADA would catch him in the car and drop Kamui's head onto the top of the car. Kamui would still manage to kick out. MASADA would hit a Brainbuster on top of the car and again Kamui would manage to kick out and then again after a Piledriver on top of the car. MASADA would finally manage to put Kamui after hitting Skullfucka Busta on top of the car to finally get the win over Kamui in the most talked about match of Kamui's career.
The next booking Kamui would take would be for his former trainer Mr. Gannosuke for Mr. Gannosuke's Kishindoh Returns 2 show on December 29, 2009 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would return back to the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring on February 9, 2010 to team with Takashi Sasaki as they would face off against the Baramon Brothers again with Kamui once again managing to score the victory over them after again pinning Kei but this time with his Kamui Clutch to continue his feud with the Brahman Brothers in FREEDOMS.
The feud against Kamui and the rest of FREEDOMS against the Brahman Brothers would take a new turn as Big Japan President Great Kojika would align himself with the Brahman Brothers and create the Kojika Army faction which would also include Abdullah Kobayashi. Kamui would team up with The Winger, Antonio Honda, and Keita Yano on March 10, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against this new faction of Great Kojika, Abdullah Kobayashi, and the Baramon Brothers with Kobayashi accidentally missing an elbow drop on Kojika and Honda managing to cover Kojika to get the win as a result. Kamui would compete in the opening match for FREEDOMS biggest show in the one year of the promotion on June 21, 2010 at Korakuen Hall as Kamui would compete in a five on five Captain Rules Match. Kamui would be the captain for his team of Ricky Fuji, Keita Yano, Shinobu, and Madoka against the Kojika Army team of captain Abdullah Kobayashi, Brahman Shu, Brahman Kei, Ken45°, and Kazuhiko Ogasawara. All of Kamui's partners would end up being eliminated one way another leaving Kamui in the ring against Abdullah Kobayashi, Ken45°, and Kazuhiko Ogasawara but Kamui would end up getting one of the biggest wins of his career after rolling up captain Kobayashi with an inside cradle to get the win for his team as the sole survivor. Kamui be at ringside for the return in over a year of friend Mammoth Sasaki and Kamui along with Ricky Fuji would be screaming for Mammoth during his match against Daisuke Sekimoto before Mammoth would eventually fall to Sekimoto. Mammoth and Kamui afterwards would be seen during intermission talking and taking pictures with each other as their friendship going back to WMF was about to create a new tag team in FREEDOMS.
Kamui and Mammoth Sasaki would team up on July 15, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring by facing off against another regular tag team in FREEDOMS of Tatsuhito Takaiwa and Masashi Takeda with Kamui eventually taking the fall after Takaiwa would end up hitting him with a Death Valley Bomb to get the win over the former WMF team.
The biggest show that Kamui was participating in would take place on July 25, 2010 at the Tokyo Sumo Hall for the DDT promotion. Kamui and Jun Kasai would team up to challenge Sanshiro Takagi and Munenori Sawa for the KO-D Tag Team Titles in a dark match on the show in front of 8,800 fans although the fans would not get to see that much of the match live as after Kamui would hit a Moonsault off the top rope to the outside onto everybody else it would eventually lead to all four wrestlers brawling all over the backstage of Sumo Hall before Sawa would eventually grab a Octopus Hold onto Kamui in the backstage area with Kamui submitting to give Takagi and Sawa the win for their 10th successful KO-D Tag Team Title defense.
It would be announced that Kamui would enter into the upcoming Death Match Tournament at the end of August and that Kamui's first round opponent would be Masashi Takeda. A match schedule between Kamui and HIROKI would form a team on August 1, 2010 at the Chiba Blue Field against Masashi Takeda and Madoka would end up getting rescheduled after Takeda would suffer a cut to his eyelid due to glass in a Death Match against Ryuji Ito on July 30th. Kazuhiro Tamura would end up taking Takeda's place and Kamui getting the win after hitting his Fire Bird Splash on Madoka to get the win to build him up for the Death Match Tournament.
Masashi Takeda's eye injury would cause him to be officially out of the Death Match Tournament against Kamui and GENTARO would be announced as the replacement for Kamui's first round opponent on August 25, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in a Barbed Wire Board Street Fight Death Match. Kamui would attack right away by throwing the chair at GENTARO to get the advantage right away. Kamui would grab a chain that he had brought into the match and use it on GENTARO. GENTARO would end up fighting back and throwing Kamui through the barbed wire board. GENTARO would then end up setting up the other barbed wire board to the outside and tossing Kamui over the top onto the barbed wire board causing Kamui to get his back cut up. Kamui would fight back and end up setting the barbed wire board on top of five chairs and would place GENTARO on top of the barbed wire board and then would deliver a dive off the top rope sending GENTARO through the barbed wire board. Kamui would then try going for the knock out by grabbing his chain and placing it around GENTARO's throat to try and choke him out. Kamui would again try to finish off GENTARO by again placing the board over him and delivering a Moonsault but still would be unable to get the win. The bloody GENTARO would eventually end up overpowering the smaller Kamui to gain control of the match and would end up delivering a Northern Lights Suplex on the barbed wire board to get the win over Kamui and eliminate him the first round of the Death Match Tournament.
Due to being eliminated in the first round Kamui's next match would be a Hardcore Rules Match against Mammoth Sasaki on August 26, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would attack Mammoth right away with a chair and send the match to outside of the ring. They would end up fighting on the entrance ramp with Kamui inserting a ladder into the match. Kamui would end up placing the ladder against the two sides of the entrance ramps and delivering a moonsault off the ladder onto Mammoth. Mammoth would end up coming back by picking up Mammoth and hitting a running Powerbomb that would toss Kamui back into the ring and then begin to work on Kamui with a chair by placing it over his neck and attempting to choke him out. Kamui would end up making a come back and deliver a Fire Bird Splash and even Mammoth's own Mammoth Home Run on him, but Mammoth's power would still be too much for Kamui as he would eventually finish off Kamui with a 29 Years Old on a ladder for the win. Mammoth afterwards would compare Kamui to two years earlier when they fought at the last WMF show and would state how much stronger Kamui had gotten over the last two years.
Madoka who Kamui had pinned the month prior would be allowed to get his rematch for getting pinned the month prior. The match would take place September 12, 2010 at the Ichinoseki City Gym U Dome with Madoka getting his win back after hitting a Flying Cross Armbreaker to pick up the win over Kamui. It would not be the last that they would face off against each other though.
The FREEDOMS team of Kamui, Mammoth Sasaki, and GENTARO would team up on September 15, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring against Shuji Ishikawa, Kankuro Hoshino, and Daisuke Masaoka in a Hardcore Rules for a Big Japan show. Kamui would hit his ladder moonsault off the entrance ramp once again, but this time it would be Shuji Ishikawa that would deliver the running powerbomb off the ramp and into the ring. The fight would end up going to the outside of the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring with Masaoka delivering round house kicks to Kamui before Hoshino would grab a hold of Kamui and Ishikawa would hold onto GENTARO and Mammoth while Masaoke would climb on top of the Big Japan moving truck and flip off of it and land on all five wrestlers on the hard concrete outside the building. They would all end up making their way back into the ring and Kamui would end up hitting a hurricanrana to Kankuro Hoshino before eventually Mammoth would end up finishing Hoshino off with a 29 Years Old on the ladder for the FREEDOMS team win in a great short match.
The originally scheduled Death Match Tournament match between Kamui against Masashi Takeda the month prior would finally happen on September 21, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in a Hardcore Rules Match. The match would end up being the match of the show as Takeda would end up driving Kamui through a table on the outside off the apron of the ring before finally finishing Kamui off with his German Suplex to pick up the win over Kamui.
The next match for Kamui would be a shot at getting two rematches in one match as his last two opponents in FREEDOMS on Masashi Takeda and Madoka would face Kamui in a Three Way Hardcore Rules Match on October 11, 2010 at the Sapporo Teisen Hall. Kamui and Takeda would end up going at it for the most of the match while Madoka would hide in the crowd for a good portion of the match. They would end up chasing Madoka up to the second level of the building with Kamui diving off the railing onto both of his opponents. Although Kamui and Takeda would be giving it their all the entire match, it would be Madoka that would end up sneaking from both of them and rolling them both up to pin them both to get the win in the Three Way Match.
The team of Kamui, Mammoth Sasaki, and The Winger would take on the Kojika Army team of Kazuhiko Ogasawara, Brahman Shu, and Brahman Kei on October 28, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would end up taking the fall after getting hit in the head by an umbrella by Great Kojika that would setup Kei to hit the School Shooter to get the pinfall over Kamui as Kamui was once again in a major losing streak.
Despite the losing streak, Kamui would still be given a shot at the former WAR Jr. Heavyweight Title now known as the Tenryu Project International Jr. Heavyweight Title against HIROKI on November 23, 2010 at the Hiroshima Industrial Hall. Kamui would miss his dive flip and HIROKI would take advantage by first hitting a Death Valley Bomb and then finishing off Kamui with his Quick Trance Drop to get the win over Kamui and defend his Tenryu Project IJ Title.
The team of Mammoth Sasaki and Kamui would form once again to take on Kamui's two biggest recent rivals of the team of Masashi Takeda and Madoka on November 25, 2010 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would take most of the punishment during the match but Mammoth would end up using his power and be way too much for Madoka to handle and eventually finish him off with a 29 Years Old for the WMF team win.
Kamui would make his debut for Tarzan Goto's Super FMW promotion on November 27, 2010 as he would team up with fellow friends Yuko Miyamoto, The Winger, as well as Tomonobu Matsumoto to take on the team of Tarzan Goto, Nobuhiro Tsurumaki, Yuta Nakata, and Reina Ayukawa in a Hardcore Rules Street Fight. It would be the Kamui's first chance to take on Tarzan Goto in years since he was just a rookie in WMF. Kamui would end up getting scarred up during the match after Tarzan Goto would break a bear bottle in half and then begin carving Kamui's arm into a bloody mess during the match. A bunch of chairs would end up getting thrown into the ring and Goto would end up hitting a Facebuster on Matsumoto onto one of the chairs and then picking up Ayukawa and throwing him down on Matsumoto to get the cover and the win for their team as Kamui would have the scars to always remember this bout with Tarzan Goto.
A WMF battle would be scheduled as Kamui would be put against Yuko Miyamoto on December 15, 2010 at the Shinjuku FACE in a Hardcore Rules Match. Miyamoto would set up a stack of chairs outside the ring early on in the match but Kamui would end up getting the upper hand and tossing Miyamoto into the chairs with Miyamoto screaming in pain. Kamui would then grab three boards under the ring and set them up on the top turnbuckle where he would climb up to the top and dive off onto Miyamoto. Kamui wouldn't be finished as he would then set up Miyamoto on a table and deliver a Swanton Bomb off the barricade to send Miyamoto through that table. Miyamoto would end up fighting back and sending Kamui through a table via moonsault as well. Miyamoto would be unable to put away Kamui that way and would begin to get frustrated and then start delivering Rolling German Supplexs to Kamui and that not getting the job done as well. Finally, Miyamoto would place a stack of chairs in the middle of the ring and deliver a Fire Thunder onto the chairs to finally manage to put away Kamui for the win.
For the third year in a row, Kamui would spend Christmas Night at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring for the Jun Kasai Christmas Death Match Show on December 25, 2010. This years opponent would be Kankuro Hoshino in a Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight. Kamui and Hoshino would fight all over the building before making it back into the ring on the apron. Hoshino would attempt to powerbomb Kamui off the apron but instead he would end up being flung into the crowd by a hurricanrana. Kamui would then for the second year in a row go outside of the building and start up a vehicle. This year the automobile would be a ban as Kamui would back it up into the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring and run into Hoshino. Kamui would then setup a table outside the ring and place Hoshino on it and climb up to the top of the van and deliver a Swanton Bomb off the top of the van through the table to pick up his first ever Christmas win.
Kamui would get the chance to wrestle on his first New Years Eve show put on by TOSHIKOSHI which would be FREEDOMS, Big Japan, DDT, K-Dojo, and Ice Ribbon all promoting together on December 31, 2010 at Korakuen Hall. Kamui would be booked in a Eight Man Junior Match and team with Minoru, Madoka, and Kaji Tamato against Kenny Omega, HIROKI, Tsutomu Oosugi, and Hercules Senga with Kenny Omega getting the win after pinning Madoka with the Croyt's Wrath.
After going his first five years in the business without getting to wrestle at Korakuen Hall, Kamui would be booked in the same building for the second time less than 48 hours later as he would wrestle at a Big Japan show on January 2, 2011 at Korakuen Hall in a Barbed wire Board Death Match. Kamui would team with Takashi Sasaki against Jun Kasai and Jaki Numazawa and for the first time since Kenji Sawaragi had put on the Kamui mask over four years earlier it would end up being pulled off in the match. The Kamui mask would be taken off and placed on the turnbuckle as Kasai would cut open and cause blood to run down Sawaragi's face for the first time in his career. Kamui would also get sprayed in the face by Kasai with deodorant. Kamui would manage to make a come back and deliver a flying dropkick off the top rope to Numazawa but Kasai would eventually place the barbed wire board on top of Kamui and deliver his Pearl Harbor Splash on it to get the pinfall over Kamui in the bloody match.
The former WMF team of Kamui, Mammoth Sasaki, and Ricky Fuji would team up on January 6, 2011 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring to take on the team of Takashi Sasaki, The Winger, and Ken45°. Kamui would close to getting the biggest pinfall of his career on Takashi Sasaki after Sasaki would set up Kamui for the D-Geist and Kamui would manage to roll Sasaki up for the near three count but Sasaki would come back and manage to finish off Kamui with a Right Leg Kick to the head for the win. Kamui would get another shot at Sasaki later in the show as Sasaki would face off against 11 different wrestlers in two minute matches. Kamui would come to the ring with a ladder and throw it right at Sasaki's face to start the match. Kamui would brawl with Sasaki around the building before ending up in the entrance ramp where he would set up the ladder against the stands and deliver his Moonsault off the ladder onto the ramp. Kamui would make a cover on Sasaki on the ramp but the referee would refuse to count due it not being in the ring and the two minute time limit would expire in the process end Kamui's night.
The FREEDOMS team of Kamui, Takashi Sasaki, and Jun Kasai would go up against the all black trunk Strong team of Mammoth Sasaki, Takao Omori, and Tatsuhito Takaiwa on February 14, 2011 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would look during the match as he would manage to reverse Mammoth Sasaki's Awesome Bomb into a hurricanrana as well as hit his Swanton Bomb on Mammoth but Takao Omori would end up finishing off Takashi Sasaki with his Axe Bomber to get the pin for the Strong team.
Kamui would return to Osaka Pro on March 4, 2011 at the Osaka Minami Move On Arena to help promote the upcoming FREEDOMS show in Osaka two days later. Kamui would team up with Ultimate Spider Jr. as he would face off against the former Asian Cougar now named Kuuga and Tadasuke with Kuuga delivering his Tornado Stamp on Spider to pick up the win.
Kamui and Mammoth Sasaki would team up again on March 6, 2011 at the Osaka World Hall Pavilion against the team of Magnitude Kishiwada and Masashi Takeda. Kamui who locally promotes the show like all the previous times he had wrestled in the building due to living close to Osaka would be the star of the match. Kamui would end up getting thrown through a table by Takeda who would then proceed to try and cut Kamui in half with the broken table. Kamui would then go against the much bigger Kishiwada as Kamui would manage a Swanton Bomb onto a ladder and then deliver an impressive Death Valley Bomb on a stack of chairs but would fail to put away Kishiwada with it. Kishiwada would then gain control over Kamui again and attempt the Last Ride Powerbomb that Kamui would manage to reverse into a Hurricanrana but again would fail to win the match. Kishiwada would come back and deliver Kamui with a powerful clothesline that would end up finishing off Kamui for the pinfall. Kamui would cut a promo at the end of the show before allowing Mammoth the last words due to Osaka being his hometown. After the show, all the FREEDOMS wrestlers would meet up at a restaurant with video cameras filming Kamui getting drunk and barely be able to stand while grabbing a microphone cutting a promo with the whole restaurant chanting his name.
A devastating Earthquake of the 9.0 range would end up hitting outside the Tohoku region of Japan on March 11, 2011. The scheduled FREEDOMS show at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring on March 14th would be changed to March 22, 2011 instead. Kamui's originally scheduled partner Mammoth Sasaki would also be forced to cancel his booking on the show and Kamui would have to find a new partner in Style-E's Kotaro Nasu as they took on the team of Ricky Fuji and HIROKI and they would end up scoring the win after Kamui would manage to pin Ricky in the match.
Although Kamui would again being teaming with somebody new in a local wrestler in Hakata named Mentai*Kid, he would be taking on two very familiar opponents in Yuko Miyamoto and former college friend Shinobu on March 26, 2011 at the Fukuoka Hakata Star Lanes with Shinobu once again getting the better of Kamui after managing to finish him off once again with his Shooting Star Press to get the pinfall over the former Duncan Sawaragi.
Kamui would then return to his trainer Mr. Gannosuke's own promoted show on March 31, 2011 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Kamui would team up with former WMF partner and rival Mineo Fujita to take on Yuko Miyamoto and Masashi Takeda in a match with three former WMF wrestlers and Masashi Takeda who has become a friend of Gannosuke and is in the age range as the other wrestlers. The current Big Japan wrestlers of Miyamoto and Takeda would be too much for the faster Fujita and Kamui as Miyamoto would end up scoring another win over Kamui after hitting him with a Moonsault to pick up the win.
The FREEDOMS team of Kamui, Takashi Sasaki, and Jun Kasai would take on the team of Takao Omori, Tatsuhito Takaiwa, and Masashi Takeda on April 21, 2011 at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring with Kamui getting his offense and show great fire the match and get in some good offense against Takaiwa but Takaiwa would end up just being too strong for Kamui and would end up finishing him off with the Death Valley Bomb to score the pinfall victory over Kamui.
Kamui's next show will be on May 8, 2011 at the Zepp Nagoya as he will get another chance to take on the team of Magnitude Kishiwada and Masashi Takeda with The Winger as his partner.
Although Kamui will never be the biggest star or make a lot of money from wrestling these days he has found himself in a great role as the small underdog in FREEDOMS who is willing take any risk there to get noticed and has become one of the most over wrestlers in the promotion and often has the most entertaining match on the show.
I have gotten the chance to meet Kamui twice on June 26, 2009 and June 21, 2010 although I have never really ever interacted with him, but I had the chance to meet Kamui's father last year on June 23, 2010 and it was a blast as he is a huge wrestling fan who goes to shows almost everyday and follows just about every promotion as it was quite easy to see where Kamui got his passion for wrestling from.
